To find standard tubing that fits together tends to be a little sloppy. If you wanted to buy expensive tubing ie DOM (Drawn Over Mandrel), that removes the weld seam inside the tubing. The tubing would fit a little tighter. You could look for something already built such as a heavy duty telescoping paint roller.
